Established by the Texas legislature in 1985, the County Indigent Health Care Program is designed to help provide medical assistance for the indigent population in each county.

County Indigent Healthcare

The County Indigent Health Care Program was established by the Texas legislature in 1985. All Texas Counties are to set aside tax dollars to provide medical assistance for their indigent population. To qualify for the Indigent Health Care Program an applicant must provide documentation to verify residence of the County with intent to stay, income, resources, and size of the family. Medical coverage provided by this Program is Physician services, three prescriptions per month, lab work, x-rays, hospital outpatient services and hospital in-patient services. Other medical services may be provided after physician referrals are provided.
