The Brazos Valley Council of Governments Environmental Management & Planning Department

The Solid Waste Management Program falls under the purview of the Environmental Management and Planning Department and is funded by a grant from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)


The BVCOG Solid Waste Management program includes:

  • Development of a regional solid waste management plan;
  • Provision of technical and financial assistance to regional entities in addressing solid waste problems; and
  • Coordination of efforts to seek regional solutions to those problems.

Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The BVCOG Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) is made up of representatives from the 7 county region. The committee meets quarterly (First Thursday of the quarter) to discuss solid waste management issues important to the Brazos Valley region.
