Whether you're looking for demographics, community resources, or small business resources, we have you covered with Economic and Community Development.

image The Community and Economic Development Department supports regional planning and fosters collaboration across the seven-county BVCOG region. Our team works closely with city and county officials to advance rural transportation planning, small business growth, community development, grant writing, demographic analysis, and GIS/mapping services. We also lead economic development initiatives by compiling industry, occupation, and workforce data, and providing technical assistance to communities—including help with identifying, applying for, and managing grants.

Community Funding Opportunities

The BVCOG Economic & Community Development program connects Brazos Valley communities with tailored resources through partnerships with state agencies. Key collaborators include the Economic Development Administration (EDA), which provides grants to boost economic growth in both urban and rural areas; the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), which focuses on rural development through grants and loans; and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), offering a wide range of funding for infrastructure, safety, and transportation needs.

Community Engagement Image

The month of April reflects the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, and it reaffirms BVCOG's commitment to ensuring equal housing access and opportunities for all. The Housing Act was a landmark civil rights law that prohibits discrimination in housing based on sex, race, color, ethnicity, religion, disability, and family status. Fair Housing Month is not only a time to reflect on the progress made, but also a call to action to promoting and raising awareness of housing rights to ensure all individuals are treated equally.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is conducting Fair Housing webinars. For more information, please check the the image to the left or visit their website at tdhca.texas.gov.

The Economic and Community Development Department of the BVCOG will be conducting a Fair Housing Law event on April 24th from 12:00PM to 1:30 PM. The event will feature guest speakers from West Webb Albritton & Gentry, P.C.  Please see the flyer below for more information.
