Coordinated Regional Public Transportation Plan

The 2016-17 Coordinated Transportation Plan Update was approved by the Independent Stakeholder Committee on February 15, 2017. This approval marks the completion of this 18-month process, which has identified goals and strategies for improving transportation for target populations throughout the Brazos Valley region. We are incredibly thankful for our committed stakeholders who provided their feedback and hard work in completing this process.

Importance of Coordinated Planning

Coordinating public transportation continues to remain as a primary focus of BVCOG transportation staff.  Coordination can improve service quality (more on-time services, drivers with better training, better vehicles), allow transportation services to be available to more people, expand to larger service areas, and centralize oversight and management. In short, coordination is a technique for better resource management.

Why Plan?

Coordinating public transportation continues to remain as a primary focus of BVCOG transportation staff.  Coordination can improve service quality (more on-time services, drivers with better training, better vehicles), allow transportation services to be available to more people, expand to larger service areas, and centralize oversight and management. In short, coordination is a technique for better resource management.

Role of Coordinating Transportation Planning

BVCOG has been tasked to help our region gain this kind of coordination. With cooperation from The District (formerly Brazos Transit District), the Bryan/College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization, health and human services agencies, and many others, BVCOG leads the planning process for health and human service transportation in the Brazos Valley. Our Transportation Workgroup meets bi-monthly to help fill transportation gaps throughout the region by coordinating with all area transit providers.
